Just finished this movie on Netflix. And I wanted to like it but I really didn’t. (Spoilers ahead)
Ok short synopsis. Typical “cheating” movie. Cliche after cliche. Husband has attractive co worker doesn’t tell wife about it. Cut to a company party, everyone meets, paranoia ensues. Said husband goes away on “business trip” with hot co worker, wife freaks out but is trying to be understanding. As soon as the husband leaves, super hot french ex boyfriends “randomly” runs into her while she is in sweats grabbing coffee. Of course they make plans to have drinks later that night. Fast forward to her avoiding his calls, and him lying to her about what he’s doing, a few adulterated kisses and even a maybe sex romp? You clearly see that one couple definitely belongs together, while the other are just out to have sex. They both fuck up to an extent or maybe more so again, you don’t really know what happens. And then they realize they love each other blah blah blah and he comes home and she’s crying and they don’t say anything but their non verbal long hug makes her realize everyine, she is about to say something and then…cue exit music.
UGH. I had read a review that said pretty much everything I said and I STILL went into this with a positive attitude. I think I was wanting it to be more like Closer. A lot more fucked up and real. This movie was real but just touched the surface of being real. It was OK. I didn’t HATE it I just didn’t feel as drawn to it like I was when I watched the traier.
I really did not like the lead male character. He’s performance was so flat that I don’t even remember his name. I actually found myself wishing that Keira Knightley’s character would end up with her ex boyfriend. Eva Mendes was also really boring in this movie. The only thing that saved it was the chemistry between Keira Knightley and the McDreamy look alike french dude.
Lack luster, cliche plot, flat leads, no music, and did I mention the French Patrick Dempsey? Overall: C+
